    Abstract

Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) is one of the simplest routing protocol for Mobile Ad hoc Networks. The results proves that the performance of DSR is consistent as compared to other routing protocols but its performance suffers when considered in terms of energy consumption at node, energy consumption during transmission and energy consumption of node due to different overhead. DSR routing protocol doesn’t take into account any energy as a parameter. Since MANET is highly sensible towards power related issues as the nodes are mobile which rely on the lifetime of battery, techniques must be required to increase their life time to prolong the life time of network. This paper presents different energy efficient protocols based on traditional DSR.
